Like most Wellhouse campervan owners, Baz is incredibly proud of his campervan and uses it for all sorts of activities, from walking to watching hovercraft racing.
He’d always wanted a campervan and almost converted one himself, but having witnessed first hand the amount of skill and work involved, he decided to leave it to the experts…
“Originally, I was intending to do my own conversion on a Transit Custom van, but after helping a friend with his conversion of a Mercedes Sprinter, I realised my body won’t contort itself into the positions needed like it used to!” he said,
So, naturally he shopped around to find the best Ford convertor he could. After kissing many frogs, he came across Wellhouse…
“the fit and finish of the Wellhouse product was streets ahead”
“I looked at many converters’ offerings of the Transit Custom, but the fit and finish of the Wellhouse product was just streets ahead,” he said. “On a visit to the factory, the enthusiasm and helpfulness of all the members of the Wellhouse team convinced me to purchase from them which I did there and then in 2018.”
As a solo traveller, Baz wanted something that fit his needs – adventure and capability, with added practicality.
“My campervan is my only vehicle so the short wheelbase Transit Custom with elevating roof is ideal for my needs. It fits nicely on my drive and also, more importantly, most car parks.
“It enables me to get out when the feeling takes me with minimal fuss. I’m a solo traveller and getting out and about in the van is a great way to meet like-minded folk and socialise.”
There are many sports favoured by campervan owners, from running and cycling to walking, but Baz’s passion is something completely different.
“I am a member of the Hovercraft Club of Great Britain and enjoy watching the racing that goes on around the country. It’s about 8 weekends of the year between May and September and it’s great fun.”
But it’s not all high-octane, he says: “I enjoy walking too. The Peak District National park is fairly close to me so I visit there when I need a break from my busy retired life.
“I also enjoy the interest that my Wellhouse Terrier 2 Sport attracts on campsites. So many people have commented how impressed they are with it (just like I am!).”
And the best thing about owning a Wellhouse, other than the unimpeachable quality and freedom to experience the outdoors?
“The extended Wellhouse family of owners is a great way to share experiences and tips. I’d recommend all customers and those thinking about buying a Wellhouse to go on there and ask questions and get involved.”
